The weekend workshops will focus on intermediate to advanced* Lindy Hop and solo jazz. For newer dancers, there is a beginner-friendly solo and partnered workshop taught by the Adelaide Hoppers. The social events across the weekend are open to all levels.
This event is run in partnership between the Adelaide Hoppers and Swing Dance Adelaide.
*If you have any questions about your experience, please get in touch.
Why ‘Red Gum Swing’?
The River Torrens/Karrawirra Parri runs through Kaurna country. The name also translates to ‘Red Gum Forest River’. We are borrowing this name in acknowledgement of the of the deep cultural connection Kaurna people have to the land that we dance on. We pay our respects to elders past, present and emerging.

DJs and live music
We’re very excited to be showcasing talented DJs and musicians from within SA, interstate AND overseas across the weekend. Keep an eye out for band and DJ announcements coming soon.
I want to perform!
Yay! On the Saturday night social, there will be an opportunity for community members to share a routine/spotlight/something they’ve been working on (max 90 seconds). These performances are not a competition – they’re an opportunity to shine while being supported by the community. Everybody and anybody is welcome to join in; if you are interested please reach out to theadelaidehoppers@gmail.com for more information and guidelines.
I want to volunteer!
RGS is organised by a dedicated team of volunteers and we would love as many helping hands as possible to help the weekend run smoothly. If you are interested in helping us throughout the weekend (whether that’s on the door, event setup/pack-up, or something else), please complete the form below. Volunteers will be compensated for their time (through a token financial reimbursement provided after the event). A huge THANK YOU in advance! <3
